When we rescued Enzo the second time, we knew it would take some time for him to find his forever home. That is proving to be true- he’s been with us longer than Bethany, making him the longest foster pup we’ve had!

Enzo is a deeply sweet boy who, like most of our foster pups, has his issues. He’s going through the same program as our previous foster DJ and after watch DJ’s transformation, we’re looking forward to socializing him more and setting a good foundation for his future life. We’ve kept him for so long party because we want to ensure his adoptive family is the right fit and will love him forever as he so deserves!

Toys for Dogs Who Chew: Review

If your house is at all like ours then severed rope toys, torn up tennis balls and insane amounts of stuffing on the living room rug are a regular occurrence. Buying tough toys “for aggressive chewers” sounds like a good idea until your dog rips it apart at the seams in less time than it took you to pull the price tag off. We’ve been there many times but fortunately, we’ve found some pretty good toys along the way. Sure, they may not be as fun or cute as others, but they’ll last and your dogs will love them.

Kong Extreme– These rubber toys are even stronger than the original Kongs but are also stuffable and fun to chew. Available in 5 sizes, Kongs are truly the best solution for habitual chewers. Smaller dogs may not like the Extreme version because the rubber is harder to chew. All Kongs are extra durable, from Puppy to Classic, but the Kong Extreme is key for those crazy chewers in your house.

Cheers to 2013!

happy new year, dogs

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and a very Happy New Year!! Thank you all for your supportive words about our foster boy Enzo who made a reappearance last month at our house. (Read here if you missed the post.) He’s doing exceptionally well and as the days go by, I’m falling more and more in love with him. He’s become an excellent walker and loves getting his furry coat brushed. Another favorite? Pressing his entire body into you when you pet him. He’s had no obedience issues at all and I find myself scratching my head to explain the earlier blunder. Hopefully, Enzo will find his perfect forever home soon– he has nothing but love– and a ton of dog hair to give 🙂

Enzo’s Back & Searching for Home

Our sweet foster boy Enzo is back. About a month ago we sent him to a rescue group in New Hampshire to search for his forever home but sadly, things did not work out. Enzo was failed, had a little incident and his fate was hanging by a thread again. Thankfully, we were able to save him and bring him back down to Miami.

Saving Enzo for the 2nd time…he sat on my lap the whole way home 🙂

When we sent Enzo, the rescue group assured us he’d work with their professional trainer to get all the help he needed before being adopted (he was jumpy, very hyper and didn’t know basic obedience). Sadly, Enzo was never seen by the trainer and adopted out to a family instead. His behavior escalated when the family reported Enzo was “growling at their 5 year old”. Instead of removing Enzo from the house immediately, sending a trainer over or even having a trainer call to asses the situation, the rescue did nothing. A week later, Enzo stole a plate of cookies off the table and was eating them when the grandfather came in. As he was picking the cookies up, Enzo “nipped at him”. The bite did not draw blood or require medical attention however the rescue decided it would be best to euthanize Enzo.

It Matters to Me

Author Unknown

As I walked along the seashore
This young boy greeted me.
He was tossing stranded starfish
Back to the deep blue sea.
I said “Tell me why you bother,
Why you waste your time this way.
There’s a million stranded starfish
Does it matter, anyway?”
