Enzo is going home! Not like on transport to a rescue group to find a home, like HOME!!! The story is really proof that in the end, everything works out the way it’s supposed to be.
Enzo will be going to live in Ridgeland, SC with a wonderful friend of my mom’s. It’s about 20 minutes away from Hilton Head Island, where I grew up (hint, hint: I’ll get to see him whenever I go home!).
Paul has been looking for the perfect companion but had been hesitant. His 16 year old dog died Christmas Eve and though he wanted another dog, he wasn’t sure he was ready. My mom told him about Enzo in February but it was still too soon. Sadly, another personal tragedy struck Paul short-after and his mother convinced him now was the perfect time to adopt a dog. He told my mom he was looking. She knew from talking to me that Enzo would be a perfect fit. When Paul came over, she pulled up a bunch of photos of Enzo from Facebook. Then he saw one photo and started crying. He had to have this dog.
We spoke to the wonderful people with the transport group and because Enzo had not been scheduled on a transport yet, he could be released to us. We called Paul with the news and he was ecstatic. We are driving Enzo up to South Carolina tonight and he will go to his forever home with Paul tomorrow.
Nothing could be more perfect. Paul revealed to me that before he got involved in rescue, he bred Chows. I talked about Enzo’s quirks (rain hater & prancer) and Paul responded, “Oh yeah, that’s a Chow!”. After breeding for several years, he became involved in dog rescue; his previous two Rottie mix rescues lived to be 16 and 14. Enzo will lots of land to run on– he’s a city dog goin’ country– and really, nothing suits him better. Enzo will be Paul’s car buddy, protector, confidant and best friend and in return, Enzo will be well taken-care of and loved like crazy for the rest of his life. There is nothing in the world that could make me happier. My man, my shadow, my pretty boy Enzo is finally going home!!!!
