Supplements for Dogs

Adding supplements to your dog’s diet can help maintain healthy skin and coat. Skin and Coat supplements are especially beneficial to dogs with skin allergies or skin irritation/itchy skin. Check out the following supplements and read about the benefits of adding them to your pet’s diet. The most common way to give supplements to your dog is to add it to their food.

Skin and Coat
Omega 6’s and Omega 3’s, also known as Essential Fatty Acids or EFA’s, are very important for maintaining healthy skin and a shiny coat. Dogs need more Omega 6’s than 3’s but it’s important to note most dog food contains Omega 6’s. Supplementing Omega 3’s are a wonderful idea to help your pet maintain a shiny coat and healthy, glowing skin!Ā Click here to read more about the benefits of adding EFA’s to your pet’s diet. EFAs are also great for cats šŸ™‚

Our Mini Schnauzer, Harley is prone to skin irritations so we give him EFA’s daily. In addition to maintaining healthy itch-free skin, his coat is soft and shiny.

My coat is extra shiny!

  1. I love the design in this photo. Cute doggie too!

  2. Thanks for that post… Flo is having a terrible time with some sort of skin condition at the moment, so it is really timely for us. I hadn’t thought of supplements before so will do a bit more research there. She’s been on anti-histamines, which have worked in the past, but didn’t seem to make much difference this time. Both the vet and I aren’t particularly fussed on having her on them anyway, PLUS they make her incontinent… not nice. It doesn’t seem to make her itch except when it’s in one particular place at the top of her leg, but the fur is falling out where she’s had spots. I’m glad that they are working for Harley, I can’t imagine how uncomfortable the poor wee thing must have been with itchy skin. šŸ˜¦

    • Oh, I am sorry to hear about poor Flo! There is some great info on the internet on adding Omega’s and the benefits, etc. Thank you for your kind words about Harley- we are so glad he’s well now šŸ™‚

We hope you can find a good solution and Flo gets better!! Good luck! Feel better, Flo!

  3. Great picture of Harley but he needs to be careful that he doesn’t get his head stuck!

  4. My person gives me dog vitamins when she takes her vitamins. I recognize the rattling of her vitamins and come running, but she says mine stink. I don’t know what she’s talking about. I think they smell very appetizing.

  5. I used to give cod liver oil to my dogs but now it has all gone, and it is not so easily available here. .

  6. We give our Choc. Lab fish oil to help out with her dry skin. We have given her a eye in her food sometimes when her skin gets really dry. Having your dog take a vitamins is great. They are just like us and we take them.
