Wheat-Free Crunchy Carrot Stix

Nutritious Carrot Stix treats are a crunchy easy-to-make snack for your pup! Check out the healthy wheat-free recipe below. To read more about the benefits of a wheat-free diet, click here. These treats are super-easy to make and require less than an hour of baking time.

Wheat-Free Carrot Stix

Makes approximately 30.

1½ cups oats, blended in food processor
¼ cup soy or rice flour
1 cup fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dry parsley)
½ cup carrots, finely chopped or blended in food processor
1 egg
¼ cup water

>>Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
>>Mix all ingredients in medium-sized bowl thoroughly. Add water or oats if necessary.

Fresh ingredients make healthy treats!

>>Form into “logs” 1 ½ – 3 in. thick on lightly greased cookie sheet. The size will alter the baking time slightly and can be modified to fit your dog’s size. We do our logs about 2 to 2 ½ inches thick.

Use a spoon or spatula to form the dough into "logs".

These Carrot Stix logs are ready for the oven.

>>Bake for 15 minutes or until treats are lightly baked (not too mushy!)

Carrot Stix in the oven. Ready to be taken out and sliced up!

>>Remove from oven and cut logs into small “stix” about ½-2 in. thick. The treat size depends on your dog’s size- bigger treats require more baking time. Separate the treats so no edges are touching each other. This will allow each treat to get extra crispy!

Carrot Stix ready for the final oven phase

>>Reduce oven heat to 250 degrees.
>>Place in oven again for 30 minutes or until golden and crispy.

Perfect! Golden, crispy Carrot Stix that are wheat-free and extra healthy!

>>Refrigerate or store in air-tight container. Stays good for 2-3 weeks if stored in the freezer.
