Makes approximately 30.
1½ cups oats, blended in food processor
¼ cup soy or rice flour
1 cup fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dry parsley)
½ cup carrots, finely chopped or blended in food processor
¼ cup water
>>Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
>>Mix all ingredients in medium-sized bowl thoroughly. Add water or oats if necessary.
>>Form into “logs” 1 ½ – 3 in. thick on lightly greased cookie sheet. The size will alter the baking time slightly and can be modified to fit your dog’s size. We do our logs about 2 to 2 ½ inches thick.
>>Bake for 15 minutes or until treats are lightly baked (not too mushy!)
>>Remove from oven and cut logs into small “stix” about ½-2 in. thick. The treat size depends on your dog’s size- bigger treats require more baking time. Separate the treats so no edges are touching each other. This will allow each treat to get extra crispy!
>>Reduce oven heat to 250 degrees.
>>Place in oven again for 30 minutes or until golden and crispy.
>>Refrigerate or store in air-tight container. Stays good for 2-3 weeks if stored in the freezer.
