Wheat-Free Minty Cinnamon Treats

Here’s a quick, easy recipe for wheat-free dog treats. They are much healthier than many store-bought treats and provide a special treat your pups will love. Click here to read about the benefits of a wheat-free dog diet. These treats are quite simple but dogs love the yummy cinnamon and the mint does wonders for yucky breath! Use your favorite doggy cookie cutters for added fun.

Minty Cinnamon Dog Treats

2 cups oats
1 ½ cups rice flour
1 egg
½ cup fresh mint, very finely chopped
2 teaspoons baking soda
1¼ teaspoons cinnamon
¼ cup water

What good babies all sitting and patiently waiting for treats 🙂

>>Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
>>Mix oats in food processor until finely chopped.
>>Add chopped oats, rice flour, mint, baking soda and cinnamon to large mixing bowl. Next add egg and water and mix thoroughly.
>>Knead with hands to form workable dough, adding rice flour or water as necessary.

Just another day kneading dog treat dough 🙂

>>Using rolling pin, roll out dough on wax paper about 1/4 in. to 1/2 in. thick. Cut into treats using cookie cutters. The smaller the treats, the shorter the baking time. (If you don’t have cookie cutters, try using a clean spice cap.)

Use rice flour on wax paper if needed. Treats should be 1/4 in. to 1/2 in. thick.

>>Put treats on lightly greased cookie sheet and bake in oven for 8-12 minutes, or until lightly browned.

The wheat-free dog treats are ready to go into the oven!

>>Store in refrigerator or airtight container. If kept in freezer, treats will stay good for 2-3 weeks.

We store leftover dough by rolling in wax paper and placing inside a ziplock bag. It can stay in the fridge or freezer depending on your plans for usage.

  4. Maybe my person will get out some of her cookie cutters that she never uses. She has a coyote cookie cutter. I could eat coyotes.
